The Peninsula Spa by ESPA

The Peninsula is undoubtedly Hong Kong’s most luxurious and extravagant hotel. It exudes colonial-era elegance in every way, from its world-famous afternoon tea presentation in the lobby to its numerous esteemed restaurants. So it should come as no surprise that the hotel’s spa, The Peninsula Spa by Espa, is one of the best in Hong Kong.

The spa’s relaxing mood is set as soon as guests reach the spa’s reception on the seventh floor of the hotel, where a warm towel and a cup of ginger tea await. This, coupled with the light trickle of the water feature and the dim lighting, soothe the senses in a very real way.

Customers are invited to arrive at the spa up to an hour before their treatment to fully enjoy its facilities like the “experience showers” that feature thermal baths, rainforest showers, ice rubs and are equipped with lights and sound effects. Another amazing facility is the beautifully crafted sauna, which has a breathtaking view of the harbor and Hong Kong skyline.
After the spa treatments are complete, guests can continue to use the spa’s facilities for as long as they like, and there are even men’s and women’s tea lounge/harbor relaxation rooms set up for exclusive use by the spa’s customers.

One of the spa’s newest offerings that is an absolute must is the radical, oxygen-infused facial treatment from Intraceuticals. All the rage with Hollywood celebrities, the treatment involves the application of pressurized, medical-grade oxygen to the surface of the skin, which heightens the absorption of hyaluronic acid and makes the face look and feel youthful and firm. This range of facial treatments is known for producing visible results after only one treatment, and, apparently, after six treatments it can lead to results similar to that of a surgical facelift!

Upon beginning the treatment, the client’s skin is first analyzed under an ultraviolet lamp to detect the areas that need more attention due to congested pores, dehydration, or from any of a number of other reasons. The therapist then gently steams the face and uses a Clarisonic skincare brush to get rid of dead skin cells and decongest pores. Pure oxygen is then applied to the skin, twice.
Afterwards clients can expect their skin to feel tighter and to appear noticeably firmer. Dark circles under the eyes will disappear, eyebrows will be lifted, lips will appear plumper, and the wonderful feeling of healthy, hydrated skin will last for weeks after the treatment.
